American Plan trips to our remote Kaiarskons retreat offer a combination of exploration, adventure and relaxation throughout the season. You will be hosted by Tinker and Sharon themselves and enjoy some of the best home-cooking on a wood stove from the early 20’s. All American Plan trips include a first rate guide to show you all of the best sweet spots for Walleye, Northern, Lake Trout, and Smallmouth bass! There is not a week that goes by without fresh Laker’s in the smoker and Kaiarskons boasts of 30’ + Walleyes and Northerns in the upper 40’s! You can also tour Tinker’s “Museum” which is home to a historic 38 foot logging boat salvaged from the bottom of Kaiarskons Lake, and its replica handcrafted by Tinker himself.
Spring, early summer and fall brings unmatched fishing variety to this special pocket of wilderness. Besides fishing Kaiarskons itself, added fishing opportunities abound at several Portage lakes.
The summer and early fall weeks at Kaiarskons are ideal for exploration of the rugged, Precambrian beauty of this wilderness area. It is a photographer's dream, with pristine shorelines, crystal clear waters and abundant bird activity. Hike the moss-carpeted portages and ancient bush trails where you'll likely encounter a friendly snowshoe hare, or may even get a glimpse of a moose, deer or bear. Longer outings will bring you to abandoned gold mines and ancient Indian pictographs. For the more adventuresome, there's mountain biking on abandoned logging roads, cliff jumping and rock climbing.
